V obsáhlém výboru ze svých literárněkritických a překladových studií, esejí a recenzí z období let 2001 až 2023 podává anglistka Alena Dvořáková přehled a rozbor klíčových literárních děl řazených do takzvané postkoloniální literatury psané či reflektované v angličtině. Podrobně se zde zabývá jak díly světově známých romanopisců, jako jsou J. M. Coetzee, Toni Morrisonová, Salman Rushdie, V. S. Naipaul, Maryse Condéová, Abdulrazak Gurnah či Doris Lessingová, tak hluboce podnětnými jevy a zjevy na „okraji“ angloamerického literárního kánonu (Anna Burnsová, Patrick White). Výbor doplňuje literárněteoretickým doslovem věnovaným samotnému pojmu postkolonialismu. Nastiňuje v něm též vlastní koncepci postkolonialismu coby literárního fenoménu spočívajícího v jedinečném setkání s literární jinakostí na postkoloniální půdě, které se od čtenáře dožaduje (ne)patřičně svobodné odpovědi.

Koncem 60tých let minulého století se sešla jedna třída studující v „chemičárně“ neboli chemické průmce, aby si osvojila znalosti z tohoto zajímavého oboru. Jak šla doba, studenti se rozprchli po světě, ale na setkání po 50ti letech dostali od své spolužačky deníček, psaný v době studií. Předčítali si, citoval a vzpomínali a tak vznikl věrný a upřímný obraz popisující tehdejší dobu, plný lásek a nostalgie, ale hlavně krásné upřímnosti a humoru.
