Charlotte Link is a celebrated German author, acclaimed for her compelling psychological thrillers penned in the classic English tradition, as well as her astute observations of contemporary life. Charlotte Link was born in Frankfurt am Main, the daughter of lawyer Horst Link and author Almuth Link. She graduated from the Christian Wirth School in Usingen. Less from family tradition – her father was a judge at the Higher Regional Court – rather because she wanted to combat injustice against animals, she studied law at the University of Frankfurt for six semesters. In 1986 she moved to Munich to study history and literature. She began writing at the age of 16 on her first novel Die schöne Helena and published it at the age of 19. She became known for her social novels as well as psychological tension novels in English narrative tradition. The titles Sturmzeit, Wilde Lupinen and Die Stunde der Erben are a trilogy that, among other works by ZDF, was filmed for television in the five-part Sturmzeit. The novel At the End of Silence was nominated for the German Book Prize in 2004 in the category Belletristik; her 2000 novel Die Rosenzuchtin topped the Spiegel bestseller list for several weeks. The total circulation of her novels in the German-speaking world is over 32 million (as of: In 2014 she published her book about the last years of her cancer-related sister, who accompanied her during her illness. Link lives with her partner in Wiesbaden. As an active animal protectionist, she is committed to PETA and road dogs in Turkey and Spain. It also provides language courses for refugees.
