Johannes Robert Becher was a German poet and politician, instrumental in shaping the cultural landscape of East Germany. Serving as Minister of Culture and first president of the GDR's Kulturbund, he played a significant role in artistic development. Beyond his political influence, his poetry is noted for its expressionist style, and he is also recognized as the author of the GDR's national anthem.
