    • Ziel und Inhalt dieser Arbeit war die Entwicklung von Algorithmen zur Lösung praktischer Probleme bei der Oberflächeninspektion. Dies sind die Erhöhung der Detektionsrate auf verrauschten und texturierten Oberflächen sowie die Verbesserung der Klassifikation durch einen neuartigen Ansatz bei der Merkmalsselektion. Die Algorithmen für Oberflächeninspektion wurden in Bandkanten-Detektion, Objekt-Detektion, Merkmalextraktion und Merkmalsselektion sowie Klassifikation unterteilt und anhand der oben erwähnten praktischen Probleme entwickelt. Alle Algorithmen wurden mittels Daten von Industrie getestet. Diese funktionieren zufriedenstellend. Zur Unterstützung der Algorithmenentwicklung wurde ein Entscheidungsunterstützungssystem (DSS) für Oberflächeninspektionssysteme konzipiert. Als Prototypsystem des DSS wurde eine Softwareplattform aufgebaut, mit der entspechende Abläufe der Oberflächeninspektion simuliert werden können.
