Leonard Maltin is an American film and animation critic and historian dedicated to a deep exploration of cinema. He began his writing career at fifteen, contributing to Classic Images and publishing his own fanzine, Film Fan Monthly, focused on films from Hollywood's golden age. After earning a journalism degree, Maltin contributed to numerous film journals and newspapers. He is best known for his comprehensive film guide, annually updated with synopses and reviews, alongside other works delving into cinematography, the history of American animation, and film star biographies. Maltin also serves as a film reviewer on television and radio and teaches cinematic history at the University of Southern California.
