Der Anhang bietet eine umfangreiche Bibliographie der Werke aus dem „expressionistischen Jahrzehnt“.

Předkládaná monografie zahrnuje 17 kapitol, jež jsou tematicky i metodologicky provázány a zahrnují období od romantiky a biedermaieru přes realistickou a naturalistickou literaturu konce 19. a začátku 20. století až k dílům napsaným po roce 1945. Lokálně a regionálně se pohybují mezi literaturou centrálního Německa a Rakouska, ale zaměřují se především na literární tvorbu pražskou a moravskou, přičemž v centru pozornosti stojí literatura německy píšících židovských autorů. Kniha je určena nejen pro akademickou, ale i širší čtenářskou veřejnost.

Kniha je rozdělena do deseti kapitol, které rozebírají reakci německé, rakouské i pražské německé literatury na bouřlivý rozvoj společnosti, vědy, techniky i počínajícího ateismu v předvečer 1. světové války. Jednotlivé oddíly analyzují reflexi velkoměsta, trpícího člověka, apokalypsy a války, racionalismu, vitalismu a erotiky, světa fantazie, děsu a utopií v tvorbě německy píšících autorů s ukázkami v německém originále a jejich překlady do češtiny. Zvláštní kapitola je věnována specifikům pražské německé literatury. Publikace je doplněna poznámkovým aparátem a personálními bibliografiemi představitelů německého literárního expresionismu v knize uváděných.
