Angespornt von der frustrierenden Niederlage gegen die Aoba-Johsai nimmt die Karasuno ein neues Ziel in Angriff: das Frühjahrsturnier. Für das Trainingscamp soll es sogar nach Tokyo gehen und Shoyo ist total aus dem Häuschen. Doch die Jungs dürfen sich nur auf den Weg in die Hauptstadt machen, wenn sie ihre Abschlussprüfungen bestehen! Und schwuppdiwupp, da geht Shoyo und Tobio der Poppes auf Grundeis.

Ryunosuke schwächelt und kriegt gegen die Inarizaki einfach nichts gebacken. Ist er vielleicht zu abgelenkt, weil sein Herz nach dem missglückten Abend mit Kanoko noch ein bisschen wehtut? Nervenzerfetzend! Im vierten Satz des Finalspiels in der Qualifikationsrunde ist die Spannung kaum noch auszuhalten. Die Karasuno steht mit dem Rücken zur Wand und muss diesen Satz für sich entscheiden. Doch als sie mit Gleichstand in den Satzball flattern, kommt Tobio ins Schlingern! Können sich die Krähen angesichts des drohenden Absturzes wieder fangen und den Satz gewinnen?! Wenn nicht, ist alles aus.

Die Stimmung im Spiel gegen die Inarizaki heizt sich auf, als Ryunosukes Schwester und ihre Taiko-Crew eintreffen! Mit geballter Kraft trommeln sie gegen das Orchester der Füchse an, um ihre Lieblingskrähen zu unterstützen. Und das ist auch dringend nötig, denn Oberfuchs Atsumu Miya, der beste Zuspieler der Nation, wagt es, mit seinem Zwillingsbruder den Freak-Schnellangriff von Shojo und Tobio zu kopieren. Wenn die einzigartige Geheimwaffe der Krähen nicht mehr geheim und schon gar nicht mehr einzigartig ist, was bleibt ihnen dann noch?

Super-Aufschlag gegen Super-Annahme! Yu hat in den Aufschlägen von Big Server Atsumu Miya eine zermürbende Herausforderung gefunden – und Atsumu ein perfektes Ziel. Ein Aufschlags-Ass nach dem anderen durchbricht Karasunos Verteidigung und das Team muss zusehen, wie die Inarizaki mit mehr und mehr Punkten davonzieht. Wenn Yu sich nicht rechtzeitig fangen kann, ist der Satz so gut wie verloren. Bleibt der Karasuno am Ende nur ein überraschender Wechsel?

Schon lange war es ruhig um das einstige Krähen-Ass Asahi. Viel zu ruhig. Doch nun, während das Spiel der Krähen und Möwen im zweiten Satz hin- und herwogt, brodelt es in dem Unglücksraben. Keiner seiner Schläge kommt durch den gegnerischen Block, er fühlt sich wie ein Versager! Wie soll er nur an Mittelblocker Sachiro vorbeikommen, der die Ruhe selbst ist, egal was passiert? Irgendwie muss Asahi die Fesseln seines Gedankenwirrwarrs durchbrechen.

Kenma ließ die Katze aus dem Sack und hat versucht, seine gefiederten Lieblingsfeinde Tobio und Shoyo im Vogelkäfig gefangen zu halten. Aber mit einem gewagten Viererset brechen die beiden aus und fliegen sich frei! Um den Höhenflug der Karasuno zu stoppen, bringt die Nekoma nun ihr eigenes Gigantenteam ans Netz: Lev Haiba und Sou Inuoka! Die Mülltonnenschlacht geht in den letzten Satz ... Wer wird nun endgültig als Sieger hervorgehen: Shoyo oder Kenma?

Als Balljunge perfektioniert Shoyo im Trainingscamp leider nur das Bodenwischen. Aber das hält ihn nicht davon ab, sich eine Menge Tricks abzugucken und seine Mitspieler vom Spielfeldrand aus sogar zu coachen! Wenn sich Tobio im U19-Camp auch nur halb so viele Gedanken über Zusammenspiel und kameradschaftlichen Umgang macht, müssten Shoyo und er doch eigentlich zu einem perfekten Team fusionieren, sobald sie wieder aufeinandertreffen …

Endlich konnten sich die Krähen zum Vertreter Miyagis mausern. Doch welche Mannschaft wird für Tokyo ins Frühjahrsturnier starten? Im Halbfinale der Tokyoter Qualifikationsspiele heißt es: Katzen gegen Eulen! Nekoma vs. Fukurodani – ein heißes Duell, das die Mädchenherzen auf der Zuschauertribüne reihenweise schmelzen lässt. Fukurodanis Ass Kotaro ist dermaßen in Hochform, dass Nekomas Defensivmeister Morisuke ganz schön mit den Ohren schlackert. Werden die mörderischen Miezen etwa von den krassen Käuzchen in die Flucht geschlagen?!

Was für ein Spitzenauftakt! Die Karasuno gewinnt ihr erstes Match des Frühjahrsturniers und kann nun die anderen Teams in Augenschein nehmen. Ein Spieler fesselt Shoyos Blick besonders: Korai Hoshiumi starrt ihn mit Adleraugen an – und Shoyo kann nicht wegsehen. Fordert der kleine Kerl ihn etwa zu einem Duell heraus? Bevor die beiden sich näher beschnuppern können, muss Shoyo zum nächsten Spiel gegen die Inarizaki aufs Feld! Doch mit dem ohrenbetäubenden Lärm, der ihm entgegenbläst, hat er nicht gerechnet.

Man sagt, Möwen können selbst dem stärksten Sturm trotzen. Ob die Kamomedai also dem Gegenwind der Krähen im letzten Satz standhalten kann? Nur eine Mannschaft mit klugem, starkem Atem wird sich den Weg ins Halbfinale freipusten. Und auch wer nun den Titel des Kleinen Giganten für sich beanspruchen kann, steht noch auf wackligen Füßen. Jetzt ist der Moment, in dem das Team der Karasuno selbst zum Orkan werden muss.

Verzwickt und zugeflattert, Shoyo hat Fieber! So gerne das Krähenküken zusammen mit seinem Schwarm weiter um den Sieg kämpfen würde, so sehr muss er erkennen, dass ihn seine Flügel gerade einfach nicht mehr tragen. Es bricht allen das Herz, doch Shoyo wird aus dem Spiel genommen und die Karasuno muss nun im letzten Satz gegen die Kamomedai ohne ihren größten Punktejäger anfliegen. Wie sollen sie diesen Rückschlag verkraften?

In Brasilien hat Shoyo sich gut an Land und Leute angepasst, und auch Beachvolleyball macht ihm großen Spaß. Es ist so faszinierend anders: neue Spielregeln, sandiger Untergrund, wechselnde Windrichtungen! Und in Heitor hat er einen tollen Teampartner gefunden, mit dem er sogar an Turnieren teilnehmen kann. Doch Shoyos Zeit beim Beachvolleyball in Südamerika ist begrenzt, denn zu Hause in Japan wartet bereits ein ganz neues Team auf ihn ...

Endlich Viertelfinale! Und zwischen Shoyo und Korai – dem kleinsten Mittelblocker und dem kleinsten Außenangreifer der Liga – fliegen sofort die Federn ... äh, Fetzen. Denn als im Play-Off der Kleinen Giganten die Kamomedai-Möwen auf die Karasuno-Krähen treffen, entsteht ein mächtiger Kampf der Lüfte. Und dann sitzt auch noch Shoyos Held, der ursprüngliche Kleine Gigant, im Publikum und schaut gespannt zu, an wen er seinen Titel abtreten wird.

Atsumu Miyas Aufschlagserie ist durchbrochen und macht den Weg frei für die Aufholjagd der Karasuno! Aber die ausgefuchsten Miya-Zwillinge gehören nicht umsonst zu Japans Spitze der Oberschulen, immerhin ist Blut bekanntlich dicker als Schweiß und Tränen! Und Atsumu hat nicht nur die perfekten Vorlagen für seinen Bruder parat, sondern bringt die gesamte Mannschaft nach vorne. Kann Tobio sich rechtzeitig etwas von diesem instinktiven Zuspiel abschauen oder steht der „König“ am Ende wieder alleine auf dem Feld?
