      Lake Balaton in Hungary is a place not only to swim, sail, fish, horseback ride and, in general, to relax and have a good time but, in addition, to enjoy excellent food and wine. The large freshwater lake yields several varieties of especially tasty fish, such as pike perch, catfish, carp, and eel. Neighbouring forests are fille dwith mushrooms and game, while the lakeside hills produce fiery wines. But we have yet to mention the best of all, the local cuisine which transforms the se basic foodstuffs into uniquely delicious dishes.This book displays the beautiful landscape and sights of Balaton. But, above all, it is devoted to the region's outstanding foods and wines, presenting in words and pictures its characteristic dishes and their recipes.
