Anyone who „thought differently“ in the GDR, who wanted to live freely, was in the eyes of the SED to danger and criminalized. Legislation and justice became tools of the rulers. The victims were surrounded by a network of spying and denunciation. The focus of the book, which contains numerous photos and documents, is the structure, methods and operation of the Ministry of State Security of the GDR. It gives information about the perpetrators on the one hand and the victims on the other hand, and tells of the people who dared to resist.
