Die Werte der multikulturellen Postmodernität haben wir hinter uns gelassen. Nicht-Referenzielle Architektur eröffnet dem so befreiten Menschen unbegrenzte Möglichkeiten. Das Buch Nicht-Referenzielle Architektur ist über einen längeren Zeitraum entstanden. Die beiden Autoren – der Architekt Valerio Olgiati und der Architekturtheoretiker Markus Breitschmid – kennen sich seit 2005 und haben diverse Gespräche geführt – in der Schweiz, in den USA und in Portugal. Diese Gespräche sind bereits in diverse Bücher und Essays eingeflossen oder wurden in Interviews vertieft. Die Idee zur vorliegenden Publikation geht auf das Jahr 2013 zurück. In zahlreichen ausgedehnten Klausuren in den Schweizer Alpen und in Alentejo ergab sich der Inhalt, geschrieben wurde die Abhandlung letztlich in Virginia.
