Severský psychologický román či intelektuální thriller psaný sevřeným poetickým jazykem, kde vypravěč, zkušený diplomat OSN, pomalu odhaluje pravdu o politicky motivované smrti své dcery, aktivistky na Blízkém východě. Zprvu to vypadá, že největší díly viny nese šéf organizace pro lidská práva. Diplomat ho najde a snaží se dosáhnout řádného procesu. Záhy však zjistí, že to legální cestou není možné a klade si přitom otázky, jak se domoci spravedlnosti v situaci, která je ze své podstaty nespravedlivá, a zda je možné se vypořádat se smutkem, když neexistuje způsob, jak spravedlnosti dosáhnout. Rozhodne se proto pro vlastní řešení, chce vzít spravedlnost do vlastních rukou, potrestat viníka a pak sebe. Nakonec se ale po vnitřním dialogu rozhodne jinak. Navíc je stále více zřejmé, že osudová rána přišla odjinud, než si původně, pod vlivem emocí, myslel.
