German author and journalist Levin Schücking gained renown for his novels, which often depicted (not always favorably) the nobility into which he was born. His works are characterized by strong patriotism and an unmistakable Westphalian flavor. Schücking masterfully captured the spirit of his homeland and the social conditions of his time.
