Hermann Alexander von Keyserling was a Baltic German philosopher with an interest in natural science and philosophy. Before World War I, he was known as a popular essayist and a student of geology. After losing his estate during the Russian Revolution, he founded the Society for Free Philosophy in Darmstadt.
