Jan Hlavička

Jan Hlavička was a Czech translator and author of science fiction short stories, credited with coining the word "emzák" (alien). His work was characterized by realism, a sad humor, and roots in the tradition of Czech prose. He himself studied French and German translation and interpretation at the Faculty of Arts at Charles University. Hlavička's stories were described as 'typical Czech science fiction,' and his style as 'the most Czech author of all.'
