Leo Kofler

    April 26, 1907 – July 29, 1995

Leo Kofler was an Austrian-German Marxist sociologist who uniquely connected sociology and history with aesthetics and anthropology. His distinctive interpretation of Marxism places him among the significant Marxist intellectuals of post-war Germany. Although his work was rarely translated into English, Kofler offered a singular perspective on the social sciences. His ideas continue to inspire the study of the interconnectedness of culture and society.
