In search of the true Arabian horse, Carl R. Raswan lived and migrated with nineteen Bedouin tribes for over twenty years, immersing himself in their rites and traditions. During this time, he compiled an unparalleled collection of Bedouin terms related to horses, breeding, and horsemanship. This collection is unique due to Raswan's deep understanding of animal husbandry and horsemanship, gained from his extensive time spent with camel- and horse-breeding Bedouin tribes across Syria, Iraq, Kuwait, Transjordan, and the Hejaz, Nejd, and Qasim provinces. He may have been the only Arabist to thoroughly study Arabian studbooks, pedigrees, and importation papers, enriching his vocabulary further. Each term is presented in Arabic script, with a Latin transcription and English explanations provided by Raswan. The second part features Johannes Erich Flade, a renowned expert in Arabian horse breeding, who offers a vivid account of Raswan's life and travels, highlighting their close friendship and shared passion for the Arabian horse.
