Kurt Gossweiler

    November 5, 1917 – May 17, 2017

    A German historian whose work primarily focused on fascism and was published in the German Democratic Republic. During the Nazi era, he was involved in illegal communist resistance and later served in the Wehrmacht before defecting to the Red Army. After World War II, he settled in East Germany, where his writings delved into the nature of fascism. In the post-GDR period, he became notably recognized for his defense of Joseph Stalin's legacy.
