Walter B. Emery
Walter Emery was a British Egyptologist whose early training in marine engineering informed his exceptionally detailed line drawings, a hallmark of his scholarly publications. He dedicated the majority of his career to significant archaeological excavations along the Nile, particularly in Nubia and Saqqara. Emery was instrumental in uncovering the mysteries of ancient burial sites, notably discovering the enigmatic X Group tombs at Quban and Ballana. His prolific fieldwork culminated in the profound discoveries of the 'enclosure of the sacred animals' and the 'mausoleum of the sacred cow,' greatly advancing our understanding of ancient Egyptian religion and funerary practices.
