The Romanesque basilica of St. Eucharius-St. Matthias, completed in 1160, stands on a site with a sacred history dating back to the 3rd century, evidenced by late antique crypts and stone sarcophagi. The first confirmed church was built by Bishop Cyrillus in the 5th century. The structure underwent significant changes in the late 15th century with a late Gothic star vault, and in the 17th century, a baroque main portal was added to the west facade. The cloister, constructed around 1220/40, now houses Benedictine monks after periods of secularization and WWII displacement.
