The first section of this book provides the basics of chemistry as relevant to environmental protection. Numerous examples are worked through. The second section goes on to treat in detail the chemical analysis and processing of water, the purification of sewage, and the treatment of sludge. The book then concludes with a discussion of the collection, transportation, disposal and recycling of unavoidable and special wastes. The Second Edition has been extensively revised. It now includes, for example, recent environmental jurisdiction and new methods of disposal. The First Edition was most warmly received and praised for its clarity and thoroughness.
