Hans Halberstadt

This author approaches writing as a seasoned documentary filmmaker, whose fifteen-year career in the film industry naturally transitioned into the world of literature. He found that the fundamental techniques of designing a film project apply just as readily to non-fiction books, making the shift a seamless one. The work with books proved to be more enjoyable, adventurous, and profitable than filmmaking, leading him to gradually embrace book projects exclusively. Unlike many other writers, he has never experienced difficulties securing book contracts or suffered from writer's block; storytelling has always been a natural and fun endeavor for him.

On April 6th, 2003, twenty-six Green Berets, including those of Sergeant 1st Class Frank Antenori's Special Forces A-team (call sign Roughneck Nine-One), confronted a vastly superior force—one that included battle tanks and more than 150 well-trained, well-equipped, and well-commanded soldiers—at a remote crossroads near the small village of Debecka, Iraq. The rest is history… Along the way, they endured a U.S .Navy F-14 dropping a 500-pound bomb on supporting Kurdish Peshmerga fighters, the ever-present threat of WMDs, and countless other deadly obstacles. This is the never-before-told, unsanitized story of how one Special Forces A-team recruited and organized, trained and eventually fought—and won—a legendary conflict that will influence American military doctrine for years to come.

What began as a motorized bicycle dreamed up between a young machinist named George Hedstrom and a champion cyclist named George Hendee, became one of the most popular motorcycles in the world: the Indian. Out of production for half a century, Indian retains the loyalty and admiration of motorcycle riders and enthusiasts everywhere. This book recounts the marque’s story from its earliest single-cylinder “motocycles” of 1901 through the bitter day in 1953 when the company shuttered Wigwam, its Springfield, Massachusetts, plant—with a nod to the trademark disputes that continue to this day. Text by noted Indian historian Jerry Hatfield, and more than 125 specially commissioned photographs and 25 black and white historical pictures, capture the seductive power and grace of the great models—the Scout, Chief, and Four, —and recreate the thrill the Indian generates to this day.
