Diana Patience Beverly Ross was an English children's author who also worked in sculpture and graphic arts. She illustrated several of her own books, often under the pseudonym Gri, named after her cat. Ross is primarily known for her series of picture books chronicling the adventures of the Little Red Engine, beginning with its first installment. She also penned modern fairy tales for older children and contributed to the creation of the BBC children's television series Camberwick Green.
