    Born 31 December 1967 in Brandýs nad Labem, he now lives in Prague. In 1989, he graduated from the SPS in Liberia. Member of SF&F Workshop since 1993. He is arguably the best-selling contemporary domestic author of the genre, popular beyond the regular readership of the fantastic and receiving royalties comparable to the successful authors of the mainstream.

    In 1996, he won academy awards for science fiction, fantasy and horror for a promising newcomer. He is already quite famous among fans for not liking public appearances, rarely giving interviews and replying succinctly. He's single, lives in Prague.

    His works are specific to black humour to sarcasm, violence (torture and bloody scenes) and superhuman qualities of heroes. His books feature vampires, zombies, cyborgs in the past, present and post-apocalyptic future. The storyline tends to be fast-paced and described in the first person. Nicknamed The Master.
