Raimund Stecker Book order

In 1911, German sculptor Wilhelm Lehmbruck created the “Kneeling Woman” in Paris, a piece that quickly gained prominence, appearing at the Sonderbund exhibition in Cologne (1912) and the New York Armory Show (1913). This sculpture is a pivotal work bridging the Fin de Siècle and Expressionism, symbolizing modernism and marking the transition from the 19th to the 20th century. The richly illustrated catalogue traces the complex history of this motif in contemporary sculpture and drawing. Created in Paris in 1912, it exemplifies the artistic energy of the era, influenced by figures like Rodin, Brancusi, Cézanne, Matisse, and Duchamp. The publication also captures the vibrant bohemian life of early 20th-century Paris, detailing the interactions among Lehmbruck and other notable artists at venues such as the Café du Dome and the Salon des Indépendantes. Raimund Stecker, an art historian and curator, has directed the Wilhelm Lehmbruck Museum since 2009, while Marion Bornscheuer, also an art historian and curator, has been involved with the Lehmbruck Museum Foundation since 2008. The exhibition runs from September 24, 2011, to January 22, 2012, at the Lehmbruck Museum in Duisburg.

Den Schwerpunkt der Ausstellung (28. 5. bis 1. 7.) bilden die Tafelbilder Tim Trantenroths, die politische Bezüge aufweisen. Neben seinem Interesse am illusionistischen Bildraum und architektonischen Elementen setzt er sich mit den Veränderungen des öffentlichen Raums auseinander. Durch die elektronischen Medien sind Hybridraume entstanden, in denen sich Öffentliches und Privates, Innen und Außen, Realität und Virtualität vermischen. Die mediale Erzeugung von Öffentlichkeit hat Trantenroth in Bearbeitungen von Zeitungs- und Internetfotos, insbesondere zum Thema Krieg und Zerstörung, thematisiert.
