This Slovak prose writer and playwright was known for her keen observation of the human psyche and social criticism. In her works, she masterfully captured people's mentality and characteristics, often setting stories in the rural or small-town environment of her native region. Her style was characterized by realism, yet she was unafraid to critique contemporary political and social issues, as well as established intellectual currents. Unlike the Slovak prose of her time, she approached the theme of love not sentimentally, but rather by highlighting its calculating aspects.
