The graphic work of Martin Engelmann (1924-1992) is notable for its great technical variety and high artistic quality. Comprising more than 200 works, many of them shown for the first time in this book, these graphic works take an important place in the complete oeuvre of Martin Engelmann alongside his lithographs, woodcuts, etchings, and aquatints. Reminiscent of Hieronymus Bosch, Pieter Brueghel, and the surrealists, these works nevertheless maintain their own distinct niche in the art of their time. Although there are chimeras and ghosts in his early works, Engelmann's later works draw on nature as a source of inspiration.
