Douglas Kirkland, 1934 in Toronto geboren, wurde mit seinen Porträts für die Zeitschriften Look und Life berühmt. Seine Fotografien von Marilyn Monroe sind weltweit bekannt. Daneben war er bei den Dreharbeiten vieler Hollywood-Klassiker als 'special photographer' im Einsatz.
