Miguel Serrano (1917-2009), a prolific writer and diplomat, spent about ten years representing Chile in India as an ambassador. He took advantage of his position to explore the Indian continent and visit its masters while pursuing a spiritual path that included the practice of tantric yoga. The Serpent of Paradise, the story of a pilgrimage in India, is a partially fictionalized account of the encounter between a Latin American with strong gnostic tendencies and the most radical practice of Hinduism.
