"This book is a brief presentation of Greek mythology aimed at giving the general reading public the opportunity to get to know a basic chapter of Ancient Greek civilisation. It contains accounts of the most important cycles of mythology (the Creation of the World, Herakles, Theseus and the Trojan War) and also examines their possible interpretations... Its contest are based mainly on the most prevalent versions of the myths, as preserved through the written sources and art, and with frequent references to the plots of ancient Greek tragedy."
