In the Italian theater of war in 1944, a group of escaped British prisoners of war and Italian partisans seize four trucks filled with gold, jewels, and documents during a raid. They hide the loot in a nearby mine, believed to contain Mussolini's lost treasure since the end of the war. Fourteen years later in South Africa, only two of the men involved in the incredible heist are still alive, while the others have seemingly been murdered.
