In a cold November night in 1994, the body of a young woman is discovered in the small Swedish town of Marbäck. All signs point to a crime, and a suspect quickly emerges: Edvard Christensson, who had a relationship with her and is notorious for his volatile temper, much like his father. Edvard is convicted, and peace returns to the village, but not for his seven-year-old nephew Isak, who idolizes him. Isak becomes obsessed with the idea that he harbors the seed of evil within him, just like his uncle and grandfather. Ten years later, after a theft, Isak finds himself facing Vidar, a young police officer who helped arrest Edvard. As Vidar reflects on the past, his doubts about the investigation grow. Then, Isak goes missing. Vidar embarks on a search for the boy and for the truth about what really happened on that fateful November night.
