More about the book
In the week leading up to Halloween, Theodosia Browning, owner of the Indigo Tea Shop, and her tea sommelier, Drayton, head to the old Bouchard Mansion, known as the Gray Ghost. Recently gifted to the Heritage Society, it is set to host a literary and historical themed haunted house. Despite Timothy Neville, the Heritage Society's patriarch, being skeptical about the fundraising event, it provides a platform for his grandniece, Willow French, to promote her new book, Carolina Crimes & Creepers. However, the evening takes a dark turn when Willow's body is discovered hanging from the mansion's third-floor tower. Detective Pete Riley, Theodosia's boyfriend, is called to investigate but is soon shot by an unknown assailant. Timothy urges Theodosia to look into the murder, and shaken by Riley's injury, she agrees. As she interrogates members of the Heritage Society, a man claiming ownership of the mansion, Willow's publisher, and her fiancé, Theodosia also juggles hosting a Sherlock Holmes-themed tea and catering other events. The Gray Ghost conceals many secrets, complicating the investigation as the murder mystery unfolds on Halloween's eve.
