More about the book
KW Institute for Contemporary Art is one of the most important institutions for contemporary art in Germany. Since its founding, KW has established itself as a vibrant space for progressive artistic practices within the Berlin and international art scene. The institute has initiated the Berlin Biennale for contemporary art since 1997 and showcased Christoph Schlingensief's posthumous retrospective. Thirty years after its founding by Klaus Biesenbach in a dilapidated margarine factory, this book presents the history of this site of contemporary art production for the first time.
