The Secret Healer

With the limited opportunities for women in the fourteenth century, young Madlen becomes the assistant to midwife Clara, where she discovers her talent at healing. After Clara's death, Madlen assists the birth of a local nobleman's child, after which she is accused of murder and witchcraft. She flees to her aunt in Worms, and establishes a new identity, where she can't resist the urge to help the sick, even though it endangers her life.
