More about the book

As the Electoral College battle unfolds in a Florida courtroom, Miami attorney Jack Swyteck finds himself entangled in a high-stakes conflict involving a faithless elector, a corrupt president, and a cunning opponent. The nation is in turmoil as, for the sixth time in history, the popular vote winner will not assume the presidency. Incumbent President Malcolm MacLeod narrowly secures a second term through the Electoral College, despite allegations of misconduct that have plagued his opponent, Florida Senator Evan Stahl. Although most Americans favored Stahl, he refuses to concede, rallying his supporters to persuade electors to defy party lines. Among them is Charlotte Holmes, a gun lobbyist and elector bound by law to vote for MacLeod. However, she plans to vote her conscience for Stahl, prompting MacLeod's administration to retaliate by charging her with felonies. Jack Swyteck is determined to defend Charlotte, utilizing every legal strategy to keep her free and safe. Meanwhile, the prosecutor seeks to uncover damaging details from her past to undermine her credibility, while threats against her escalate. As tensions rise, Jack and Charlotte must confront the lengths they are willing to go to uphold their principles in a politically charged environment.
