More about the book
During a recent tour of Missouri colleges, I had a conversation with a student who surprised me with his candidness about his faith. When I asked if he was a Christian, he hesitated, admitting he was a church member but didn’t feel he was much of a Christian. His expression and words revealed a deeper truth about his self-assessment, prompting me to reflect on the nature of faith. Later, while speaking to students at a young ladies' seminary, I inquired if all the young women were Christians, which led to further contemplation on the authenticity of belief among individuals. This experience highlighted the complexity of identifying true faith and the often unspoken struggles many face in their spiritual journeys. The conversations served as a reminder of the importance of sincerity in one's beliefs and the challenges of living up to the ideals of Christianity. Through these interactions, I was reminded that faith is not merely about membership in a church but about the genuine commitment and understanding of one’s beliefs.
