More about the book

In 1941, the British cargo ship Cyclops sends out distress signals from the open sea, declaring, "We have been torpedoed and are sinking. We are abandoning the ship." After that, nothing is heard from the Cyclops, its crew, or its secret cargo. However, when a British naval survey vessel arrives at the remote port of Almeida twenty-five years later, the incredulous crew is confronted with an unimaginable continuation of the Cyclops's journey. In the harbor lie not only the charred wreckage of a cargo ship and a submarine but also the rusted, barely damaged hull of the Cyclops. From their initial investigation, disbelief gives way to horror. The condition in which the ships have been left leaves no doubt that an extraordinary drama has unfolded here.
