More about the book
The book offers a comprehensive analysis of state formation in the Horn of Africa through three distinct models: proto-state, colonial, and national liberation. Each model provides a unique lens for understanding the historical processes involved, with the proto-state model focusing on indigenous development, the colonial model highlighting external imposition, and the national liberation model exploring state formation through liberation movements. Collectively, these models present a novel framework for analyzing the complexities of state formation in this region, addressing previously unexamined aspects of its historical sociology.
