From the 11th to the 13th century, South-Western France experienced one of the darkest periods in its history. The Cathars, who were considered as heretics, were handed over to the Inquisition. Catharism, based on a dualist concept of life and concerned to return to the purity of early Christianity, was eradicated. This book also invites its readers to visit an area in which the castle ruins are part and parcel of its beauty. Places of interest for their connection with the Cathars are described in detail.
