More about the book
J.J. Voskuil (19262008) was a Dutch novelist known best for his epic cycle of novels Het Bureau. This novel was published posthumously by his wife, and is another Voskuil classic well worth reading. The story describes the friendship between Maarten and Nicolien Koning and their two homosexual neighbours. Voskuil's narrative does not shy away from conflict and misunderstandings, and is a very lively portrait of Maarten and Nicolien's relationship as well as their interactions with the outside world.
