More about the book
Describes the sufferings endured by some of the 871 "Teheran children" (Polish Jewish children who had fled to the USSR) during their exodus from Soviet camps, via Krasnovodsk, to Teheran, along with General Anders' Army. This occurred in the wake of an agreement reached between the Polish government-in-exile and the Soviet Union in 1942 to allow Polish citizens who had chanced into Soviet territory to leave with Anders' Army. The children arrived in Palestine in February 1943, after a long journey by boat from Karachi via Suez. 73 of the children submitted testimonies in 1943 to the Palestinian-based authorities of the Polish government-in-exile, describing their experiences in Poland between 1939-41 under the Nazi occupation.
