More about the book

22 year old Simon, who calls himself Barton Fink, writes a play about a boy who finds out he only has a year left to live. Simon finds his fiction turning to reality when he is diagnosed with spleen cancer just as the character in his lay. Unable to accept that he has just a year left, he wanders the streets of Ljubljana where he meets a homeless man who offers him a ticket to New York. In return he would have to deliver a package. Simon is flabbergasted; the idea that a vagrant on the streets on Ljubljana can have access to a plane ticket and friends in New York seems ridiculous. However he takes up the offer and thereafter his time veers between secrets and suspense. And a stark introduction to reality leading to acceptance and eventually solace. Part fantasy, part thriller, If I Only Had Time is an intense but fast paced literary tour de force that explores aspects of identity and how we identify with personas based on cinema and literature to deal with our not-so-remarkable lives. Of making the most of the time given to us.
