More about the book

This paperback collects the first five adventures of The Diary of Janie Ray, featuring over 270 five-star ratings on Goodreads! Eleven-year-old Janie Ray initially thought her diary would be boring, but strange events quickly prove otherwise. When she and her best friend Sheila discover a mysterious inscription on an old medallion, they realize it’s written in a secret code they created just that year. This leads them on an unexpected journey into the past, where they meet a peculiar girl who insists it’s 1739. As Janie's life becomes more exciting, she learns to appreciate her mother and little brother RJ more, thanks to their time-travel escapades. However, some things remain constant, like Marcia the Snob, who continues to make Janie's life difficult. Together with Sheila, Janie explores the medallion's secrets while navigating the challenges of fifth grade. In one adventure, Janie is paired with the unpopular Kellie for a science project. She soon discovers Kellie’s incredible singing talent and tries to help her gain acceptance among their classmates. As Janie juggles friendships and schoolwork, she receives a mysterious note from the future, leading to further twists. With a baking contest on the horizon and Marcia's surprising overtures of friendship, Janie must figure out her role as the Bearer of the Medallion.
