Gustav Francl

    This translator and literary editor primarily focuses on poetry. His work is characterized by readable, sometimes colloquial language, and the occasional use of assonance instead of rhyme, giving his translations a unique rhythm. He is particularly renowned for his complete translation of Paul Verlaine's poetic works. He also compiled an extensive anthology of French poetry, "The Gallic Rooster Sings," considered his life's work and highly acclaimed.
