Schimon Peres

    August 2, 1923 – September 28, 2016

A statesman renowned for his oratorical brilliance, he possessed a deep appreciation for literature, effortlessly quoting from Old Testament prophets, French works, and Chinese philosophy. This literary inclination also led him to write poetry, some of which inspired songs. Despite a political career spanning over 66 years, he maintained a distinct artistic sensibility. Considered the last link to Israel's founding generation, his words and actions left an indelible mark.
