"This celebrated volume begins when Nin is about to publish her first book and ends when she leaves Paris for New York"--
Herbert Zand Book order
Herbert Zand, the son of small farmers, hailed from the Austrian Salzkammergut. His literary output, encompassing novels, short stories, essays, and poems, was primarily a relentless pursuit of the adequate language to express his experiences and sensations. Utterly uncompromising with himself, he eschewed career, sales, and success, focusing instead on his singular artistic vision. Elias Canetti observed of him, "His words are nourished by silence: it will outlast the noise that deafens us."
