Med naraščanjem nasilja v okupiranem Mariboru, med uporniki v pohorskih gozdovih, v koncentracijskem taborišču na severu Evrope in med povojnim prevzemanjem oblasti se v štirih poglavjih odvijajo zgodbe ljudi, ki so v tej zgodovinski blodnjavi človeštva nasilniki, žrtve ali oboje hkrati. In ki skušajo ubraniti vsaj vsak svojo ljubezen pred nesmislom zla in porazom človeškega dostojanstva. Kolektivní monografie s názvem „Spanilost Vaše cizozemcům se líbí…“ přibližuje v mezioborovém pohledu vývoj a proměny českých kuchařských knih vydávaných v průběhu „dlouhého“ 19. století. Autoři se soustřeďují na otázku, jakou roli tato knižní tvorba plnila v každodenním životě obrozující se české společnosti. Tematicky se věnují podobě gastronomických schémat, která kuchařské knihy svým obsahem přirozeně dotvářely. Stranou autorského zájmu ovšem nezůstávají ani další hlediska potvrzující, že kuchařské knihy mohou být jedním z modelů interpretace veškerých procesů a společenských změn, jež 19. století přineslo v kolektivním i individuálním smyslu.
