Lenka Lanczová Biography
December 29, 1964
Lenka Lanczová is a celebrated Czech author whose work focuses on young adult novels. Her stories often center on teenage girls navigating the complexities of interpersonal relationships and their sense of self, particularly when they feel different from their peers. Lanczová skillfully imparts valuable life lessons within her narratives, achieving this without resorting to a didactic tone, which resonates naturally with young readers. Her prolific output and compelling exploration of adolescent experiences have established her as a highly productive and widely read contemporary writer.

She attended primary school in Slavonice. After graduating from the Secondary School of Economics in Jindřichův Hradec, she worked for a year at the District Administration of Communications. At the age of 13 she realized that what she wanted to find in girls' novels was not there, so she started writing. This innocent attempt turned into a lifelong hobby and today Lenka Lanczová is the author of almost 60 books. However, her first novel was published only after the political situation in the Czech Republic changed after the 1989 revolution. Until then, it did not fit into the editorial plans of the brick-and-mortar publishing houses.
