This volume contains the speeches held at the ceremony upon occasion of the transfer of the office of President of the University of Göttingen in January 2011. For the first time in its long history, the university now has in Ulrike Beisiegel, a biochemist from Hamburg, a female President. She is the successor to Kurt von Figura, who had held that office since 2005. This volume contains all the speechs held, among them the speech by the Governor of Lower Saxony, David McAllister, the resignation speech of the parting President Kurt von Figura, and the inaugural speech of the new President Ulrike Beisiegel.
