Within the framework of the CIPM-MRA (Comité international des poids et mesures - Mutual Recognition Arrangement), there is a growing interest in the analysis of key comparison data from interlaboratory comparisons between National Metrology Institutes. Moreover, interlaboratory comparisons are also important outside metrology, e. g. for the quality assurance in measurement and testing laboratories. Laying-down of guidelines and standards for the analysis of interlaboratory comparison data thus is of growing importance for the relevant international bodies to ensure objective assessment of the results. The International Workshop on „Data Analysis of Interlaboratory Comparisons“ held in Berlin in December 2002 has aimed at encouraging this process. PTB and BAM (Federal Institute for Material Research and Testing) jointly organised this workshop. It has turned out to be an excellent opportunity for the exchange of technical knowledge and experience between the international experts attending.
